The Search Is Over

The Project:yehp.jpg

Print ad campaign materials developed for Yehey.com in 2000.

Design Notes:

In the year 2000, well before its current incarnation as “The #1 Portal & Search Engine in the Philippines”, www.yehey.com commissioned us to create a print ad and radio campaign for the site.

Here’s what they used to look like.

Budgets were limited, and the internet was still a new concept, at least to the Philippine market.

Initial print ad studies. Logo courtesy of Yehey. We developed the tagline.

Further development saw a print campaign that headlined revised snippets of Filipino culture – song lines and popular sayings (apologies to the original authors. Why? Read on.)

The following ad actually ran in a broadsheet – without express approval from the headline’s original author. Open source and wikis were still light years away, and we didn’t do our homework, so we were surprised (!) when both Yehey and the team received subpoenas for intellectual property rights infringement.

Client eventually pulled the ad and settled. Lesson learned.

Another version of the above that didn’t make the cut:
